18,942 cops to provide security during Ramazan

LAHORE: The security plan has been released to maintain the law and order situation in the province during Ramazan.

According to the plan, 18,942 officers and staff will be on duty for the security of 28,581 mosques, 2,228 Imambargahs and 411 religious places across the province, the Punjab Police Spokesman said. More than 6,000 private guards and more than 44,000 volunteers will provide assistance in security arrangements for the month of Ramazan in collaboration with mosques and madrassas, he added. The police team’s crackdown on the sale and storage of expensive items as well as the district administration and the special branch will also continue, he added.

Effective coordination with mosques and madrassas, district administration and religious scholars will maintain an atmosphere of law and order under the plan. Security will be provided at 28,581 mosques, 2,228 imambarghahs and 411 places of worship across the province, while female police officers will also be deployed for security at major mosques, imambarghahs and minority places of worship.

The Punjab Police Spokesperson further said that CCTV cameras and gate detectors would also be used for the security of sensitive mosques and Imambargahs. Likewise, 110 teams of Police Response Unit (PRU), 307 teams of Dolphin squad and vehicles from 84 police stations will be on patrol during Sehri, Iftaar and Trahwee in Lahore.
