China whispers to US allies behind America’s back – in the form of a poorly produced clip.

The Chinese Embassy in France posted a fake children’s song about “America-cracy” via social media last week. The video shows a lip-syncing Chinese woman in a top hat singing alongside several angry animals playing instruments. The song is set roughly to the tune of “The Wellerman,” a New Zealand sea ballad that rose to hugely popular earlier this year on the TikTok video site.

“Use democracy as a coat, America-cracy rules the world,” the simple lyrics begin, translated into Chinese and English, but not French. “If a country said ‘no’ you would consider it your enemy.”

CHINA SAYS WE SHOULD HAVE NO “ILLUSIONS” WHEN IT COMES TO TAIWAN

The new lyrics chide the United States for a range of conflicts, including the United States serving as “the world’s human rights cop.” The repeated chorus contains a couplet saying “Our own democracy reflects our culture, our will and our soul.” If your system can cure everything, why has it caused so much trouble?

The clip also accuses the United States of electoral fraud and misinformation to “skew” the results, saying: “Inside the country, the money speaks. All policies are subject to [corporation.] Disinformation, Gerrymandering distorts election results. “

The video ends with a credits from Xinhua News, the official news agency and media outlet of the Communist Party of China.

Many lines, including the repeated chorus, speed up to contain many more syllables than the lines they parody.

the White House reportedly cut the video feed of a Taiwanese minister on Friday at President Biden’s Democracy Summit when she showed China and Taiwan in distinct colors on a map.

Taiwan was colored green on the map, indicating that it is “open” to civil rights, while China was colored red and labeled “closed”. China sees Taiwan as part of its country, while Taiwan functions as an independent country.

“It was clearly political concerns”, a source told Reuters Taiwan’s Digital Minister Audrey Tang’s video stream was cut to audio on Friday when she showed a map differentiating Taiwan and China. “It was completely an internal overreaction.”

The French Embassy and Chinese Embassy in the United States did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
