Piedmont Macon and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office encourage everyone to stay safe.

MACON, Ga. (41NBC / WMGT) – With Halloween this weekend, local doctors and sheriff’s deputies are sharing some tips for a safe and happy vacation weekend.

Nick Mullins, an emergency medicine resident at Piedmont Macon, says you should stay alert if you plan to go outside.

SAFETY TIPS FOR HALLOWEEN 2021:

  • Don’t let your children out of your sight.
  • Check their candy for anything suspicious.
  • Use flashlights to be visible and see clearly where you are going.
  • If a house doesn’t have a light on, don’t knock on its door.
  • Avoid large crowds and very tactile surfaces.

The Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Fall Festival event to make safety a priority.

The festival takes place at the Restorative Justice Center on Hazel Street. MPs will hand out hot dogs, have a haunted house and a bouncy castle. Many sweets will also be distributed.

Major Tonnie Williams says the Sheriff’s Office wants to make sure everyone who attends has a good time and stays safe.

“It’s about making the youth and the kids go out and the parents to feel comfortable in a place where they can bring their kids,” said Williams.

The Sheriff’s Office Fall Festival is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 29. MPs ask that if you are driving near the area, slow down and make sure your headlights are on.
