PORT RICHEY – A group of concerned residents have formed a charity to show their appreciation to the men and women who put their lives at risk every day to keep the community safe.

Pasco Backs the Blue will be holding its second annual Red, White and Back the Blue Gathering from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, October 16 at Gill Dawg, 5419 Treadway Drive, Port Richey. Proceeds will go directly to the Pasco County Memorial and Law Enforcement Officer Foundation.

“Two summers ago the police were really struggling, and I decided it was time for someone to get up on the other side,” said Bob George, member of Pasco Backs the Blue. “We started this event to thank our police, especially here in Pasco County.”

The inaugural event raised $ 11,000 in support of the Memorial and Benefit Fund. The Foundation is looking to build a memorial in Dade City, and once completed, the funds will go to the families of fallen or injured officers in Pasco. Funds raised at the Red, White and Back the Blue Gathering are also shared with Investigation Station, a non-profit organization that creates interactive exhibits for children and their guardians to experience for free.

Live entertainment will begin at 5:30 p.m., featuring Patrick Gibson, The Bearded Brothers and Never Stop Believing – Journey Tribute Band. The gathering will also include the national anthem, the presentation of colors and speakers from families involved in the association.

“We have entertainment that you can’t buy for five times the price we charge,” said George. “It’s going to be a hell of a good time for everyone. The first event, I was shocked at the huge influx of people for a first event that no one had ever heard of before, to raise $ 11,000 for donations. I was dazzled. “

The wait for this year’s rally has only grown, said George, with more sponsors donating thousands of dollars, and he expects to raise around $ 30,000 for the memorial. Community support seems overwhelming, said George, adding that law enforcement deserves the recognition.

Advance tickets can be purchased online for $ 10 or at the door for $ 15. For more information visit https://pascobackstheblue.com.
