GLENVIEW, Illinois (CBS) – Police released new information on Sunday about the car they said struck and killed a man on a bicycle in Glenview the day before.

Trinidad Salgado, 56, was struck and killed while riding his bicycle just after 3 a.m. near Sanders Road and South Parkway Drive when he was struck.

Police believe the car involved was a dark-colored 2017 or 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. The vehicle has damage to the driver’s side headlight and the front bumper.

Salgado’s family urged the driver to surrender.

“So that’s why it hurts so much, because he didn’t treat people like he was treated at the end when they left him there,” Salgado’s daughter Adriana Salgado said. . “Please. Your conscience will not let you sleep. Let us know. Let go.

Salgado immigrated from Mexico to the United States over 20 years ago. He worked as a dietitian in a retirement home.

He had four children and three grandchildren.

Glenview Police are investigating with the help of the Major Accident Assistance Team of the Northern Major Crime Task Force.
