Representative Michael McCaul, R-Texas, warned Americans about the border crisis during the last “Sunday Night in America”.

Host Trey Gowdy invited McCaul to discuss the Federal Court’s decision to “enforce and enforce” migrant protection protocols, otherwise known as the “Stay in Mexico” policy. This policy required returning migrants to Mexico while their immigration procedures were heard, instead of releasing them in the United States.

The Biden administration has repeatedly tried to overturn the policy despite lingering problems at the border. McCaul, who heads the foreign affairs committee, said that is why the border crisis is a “self-inflicted injury”.

“It’s out of control. It’s a self-inflicted injury,” McCaul said. “On the first day, President Biden repealed the Stay in Mexico policy, the asylum agreements, the migrant protection protocols, which were working.”

“You look at this caravan, you talk about tens of thousands of people arriving, people without borders threatening the border patrol that they are going to wage war on them. I have lived in this state all my life. And I was a prosecutor. federal, chairing Homeland Security as you know, and that’s the worst I’ve seen. It’s going to get worse, Trey, not better, before this ends, “McCaul continued.

McCaul also lamented that President Joe Biden probably did not realize the full implications of rescinding previous policies on migrants and simply dismantled the laws “because he had [Donald] Trump’s name on it. “

“I think that’s the plan from the start. Going back to the countryside, that’s when you started to see the traffickers realize that the law was going to change. then they started to take these kids across the border. And it became a real problem, a self-fulfilling prophecy. I don’t think they realized the cancellation of that from day one, just because it had Trump’s name on it, what the consequences would be, ”McCaul said.

However, McCaul also noted that many Hispanic citizens around the border disagreed with these Democratic policies and instead called for “law and order.”

“It doesn’t resonate with the American people at home. They want law and order. What’s also interesting is that I find on the border, in the border counties of my state, the Hispanic population, they They want security. They want law and order. They have conservative values. And they’re starting to take a hard look at the Republican Party right now, because they don’t like what they see with Kamala Harris and the socialist movement, ”McCaul said.
