Nottingham (United Kingdom) (AFP) – Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has said he would be happy for Son Heung-min to marry his daughter as he defends the struggling South Korean striker.

Son failed to reach the heights he set last season as his goalless start to the season continued in Spurs’ 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

His form so far this season has been a far cry from the 10-goal run in the last nine games of last season that helped Son win the Premier League Golden Boot award.

Nonetheless, Conte said: “I understood Sonny to be a really sensible player. “He’s really sensible and a top man, a really good guy. If I have to give an example, if I have to find a husband for my daughter, I would like it to be someone like him.

“Right now he may be in a lot of pain not to score. But he has to continue like this and trust himself because in every game he has the opportunity, the chance to score and then he has to be calm.”

The Italian added: “We trust him and his teammates. You know very well the importance of this player with Harry Kane and for sure he is a bit disappointed not to score but not of problem.

“For me, Sonny will always be a nut in my team, in my football ambition.”
