Last week, two bodies were discovered in the Potomac River in the Theodore Roosevelt Island area of Washington, DC, in as many days, according to the Metropolitan Police Department, NBC4 News reported.
A body was found in the water near the Kennedy Center around 12:30 p.m. on April 14, DC police said. On April 13, someone spotted a body in the water between Roosevelt Island and the Virginia shore, just below the walkway that pedestrians use to access the island. MPD added that the body was badly decomposed. Police have not released any further information about the bodies. The medical examiner’s office is investigating the cause of death.

Arrest made in connection with a robbery offense (force and violence): Dupont circle unit block, northwest
Metropolitan Police Department Second District Detectives announce an arrest has been made in connection with a robbery (force and violence) offense which occurred Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Dupont Circle unit block, to the northwest.
Around 2:48 p.m., two suspects approached the victim at the indicated location. One of the suspects asked the victim for money and the victim refused. The other suspect assaulted the victim, placed an unknown object against the victim’s back, and took money from the victim. One of the suspects was apprehended by the police.
On Friday, April 15, 2022, Dominique Ratiff, 33 years old, without a fixed address, was arrested and charged with Robbery (force and violence).

Arrests made in connection with robberies and carjackings in the district
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Carjacking Task Force announce that arrests have been made in relation to robbery and carjacking offenses which occurred Wednesday, April 13, 2022 in the district. Offenses and arrests appear below.
- Armed robbery (pistol): At approximately 4:29 p.m., the suspects exited a vehicle and approached the victim in Block 2000 of 8and Street, Northwest. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s dog and property. The victim obeyed. The suspects then fled in the vehicle. CCN: 22-051-389
- The dog was described as a 10-week-old male Australian Shepherd, with black and brown fur, a blue left eye, and is called “Pablo”.
On Thursday, April 14, 2022, detectives assigned to the Carjacking Task Force located and recovered Pablo, inside a residence, in the 1200 block of 18and Location, North East. As a result of the investigation, seven arrests were made.

- 19 years old Charlie Later, from Capitol Heights, MD

- 15 year old juvenile male from Lanham, MD. As a result of the detectives’ investigation, this individual was also charged with the three carjacking offenses listed below:

- Armed carjacking, CCN 22-050-514 – April 12, 2022, 300 Block Upshur Street, Northwest
- Armed carjacking, CCN 22-050-483 – April 12, 2022, block 500 of Morse Street, northeast
- Armed carjacking, CCN 22-050-480 – April 12, 2022, 1800 block of Vermont Avenue, Northwest
Detectives are still seeking the public’s help in locating Bruno the French Bulldog. Bruno was the victim of an armed robbery on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Details of this offense are below.
- Armed robbery (pistol): At approximately 4:12 p.m., the suspects exited a vehicle and approached the victim in the 5400 block of Kansas Avenue, northwest. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s dog and property. The victim obeyed. The suspects then fled in the vehicle. CCN: 22-051-372
- The dog is described as a one-year-old male French Bulldog, wearing a black collar and black leash, and is called “Bruno”.
Detectives are investigating the offenses above and the two offenses below as potentially related.
Assault with a dangerous weapon (pistol): At approximately 4:38 p.m., members of the Fifth District responded to Block 2100 of 4and Street, Northeast, after hearing the sounds of gunfire. Upon arrival, the members spotted two adult males with apparent gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. CCN: 22-051-410
Armed robbery (firearm): At approximately 4:48 p.m., the suspects exited a vehicle and approached the victim in the 1300 block of 2n/a Street, northeast. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. The victim obeyed. The suspects then fled in the vehicle. CCN: 22-051-427
The vehicle of the suspects in reference to the above offenses has been found.

Suspects Wanted in Assault with Dangerous Weapon (Gun): 2300 Block of Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest
Metropolitan Police Department Second District Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating suspects in reference to an assault with a dangerous weapon (firearm) that occurred on Sunday, April 10, 2022, in the 2300 block of Wisconsin Avenue, northwest.
At approximately 11:00 p.m., the suspects entered a facility at the location indicated. One of the suspects was involved in a verbal altercation with a patron of the establishment when an employee intervened. The suspects and employee exited the facility when one of the suspects brandished a handgun. The suspect pointed the handgun in the direction of the employee. The suspects then fled.
